Orlando Health’s new construction in Horizon West is of huge benefit to those who live in the community and neighboring areas like Windermere. Their new hospital has yet to open, but plans for phase two are already underway. The second phase of the hospital is located at the intersection of Avalon and Porter roads. There will be a six-level, nearly 190,000-square-foot building built on the property.

There will be an intensive-care unit, women and children services, a catheterization laboratory and an operating room. The hospital will have the capacity to air lift patients to other area facilities. Construction on the second phase is targeted to start early next year. The building will take 21 months to complete and there will also be work done on the adjacent roads to accommodate traffic flow.

Phase one construction of the hospital is well underway and is expected to be finished by September of next year. It features a two-story, 80,000-square-foot complex with an emergency department, imaging lab and physician offices.

Orlando Health’s development will bring ample jobs in the medical field to the area. Windermere is located just 11 miles away from the new construction, making it an ideal area for new hospital staff to live.
